- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup warm water
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 2 tablespoons sugar (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
Instructions
- Combine the all-purpose flour, sourdough starter, warm water, and salt in a large bowl. Stir gently until a shaggy dough forms.
- Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead it for about 10 minutes until it’s smooth and elastic.
- Incorporate the chopped strawberries and sugar into the dough, ensuring even distribution.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm environment for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Shape the risen dough into a loaf and place it in a greased loaf pan.
- Cover the loaf again and let it rise for another 30 minutes.
- Brush the top with melted butter.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and it sounds hollow when tapped.
- Let the bread cool before slicing.
Notes
For a sweeter bread, add sugar. Experiment with mix-ins like nuts or chocolate for variety.
