  • For Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons brown butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste
  • 23 tablespoons milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans to prevent sticking.
  2. Cream together the softened butter and sugar using an electric mixer until light and fluffy—about 3-5 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in buttermilk and vanilla extract until velvety smooth.
  5. Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in another bowl.
  6. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing gently with a spatula until just combined.
  7. Divide the batter between the two prepared pans and smooth the tops.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before glazing.
  10. Whisk together powdered sugar, brown butter, vanilla bean paste, and enough milk for desired glaze consistency. Drizzle over cooled cakes.
