Ingredients

- 2 slices of bread (sourdough, whole grain, or ciabatta)
- 2 slices of cheese (American, cheddar, or Gruyère)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Optional fillings: crispy bacon, ripe avocado, fresh tomato slices
Instructions
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Butter one side of a slice of bread and place it butter-side down in the skillet.
- Add slices of cheese on top, covering every edge.
- Butter another slice of bread on one side and place it butter-side up on top.
- Cook until the first side is golden brown, about 3-4 minutes.
- Flip the sandwich using a spatula and cook the other side until beautifully melted, another 3-4 minutes.
- Serve warm with sides like tomato soup or salad.
Notes
For the best results, use medium heat and avoid overloading with fillings to prevent sogginess.
