Description
A heartwarming lasagna layered with ground beef, Italian sausage, and creamy cheeses, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 12 lasagna noodles
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound Italian sausage
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 15 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Prepare the noodles by boiling them in a large pot according to package instructions until al dente, then drain and set aside.
- Cook the meat in a large skillet over medium heat, adding the ground beef and Italian sausage. Cook until browned, about 8 minutes, then drain excess fat.
- Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic, cooking until the onion is soft and translucent, roughly 5 minutes.
- Pour in the marinara sauce and let it bubble gently for 5 minutes.
- Mix the ricotta filling in a medium bowl by blending ricotta, egg, chopped basil, salt, and pepper until smooth.
- Layer the dish starting with one-third of the meat sauce, followed by 4 noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Repeat this layering, finishing with remaining meat sauce and topping with mozzarella and Parmesan.
- Bake covered with aluminum foil for 25 minutes, then uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes until cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Rest for about 10 minutes before slicing.
