Description

A creamy, cheesy cauliflower au gratin topped with a golden brown crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 head cauliflower (cut into florets)
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional: Garlic powder or paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook the cauliflower florets until just tender, about 5-7 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  3. Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour to create a roux, cooking for about 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in the milk gradually until thickened, around 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the shredded cheese until melted. Season with salt, pepper, and any optional spices.
  6. Combine the cooked cauliflower with the cheese sauce in a baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle panko breadcrumbs evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Cool for a minute before serving.

Notes

Make-ahead option available for the cheese sauce. Consider using an air fryer for quicker cooking.
