- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup apple butter
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
Instructions
- Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Warm the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter melts.
- Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and crack in the egg.
- Mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle and spread with apple butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
- Roll the dough into a log and slice into 1-inch rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes.
- Serve warm with powdered sugar or glaze.
Notes
For extra flavor, customize with nutmeg or cloves. Serve with coffee or cream cheese frosting.
