Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) active dry yeast
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup apple butter
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a mixing bowl.
  2. Warm the milk and butter in a saucepan until the butter melts.
  3. Pour the warm milk mixture into the dry ingredients and crack in the egg.
  4. Mix until a soft dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  6. Transfer the dough to a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 1 hour.
  7. Roll the dough out into a rectangle and spread with apple butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  8. Roll the dough into a log and slice into 1-inch rolls.
  9. Place rolls in a greased baking dish and let them rise for 30 minutes.
  10. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes.
  11. Serve warm with powdered sugar or glaze.

Notes

For extra flavor, customize with nutmeg or cloves. Serve with coffee or cream cheese frosting.
