Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 8 oz dark chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon gelatin
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream together the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until just combined.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  7. Let the cake cool completely before removing from the pan.
  8. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  9. Fold in the melted dark chocolate and powdered sugar until well combined.
  10. Dissolve gelatin in water and add to the chocolate mousse mixture.
  11. Layer the mousse over the cooled cake, refrigerate for at least 4 hours to set.
