Savor the Flavor with Sweet Jalapeno Pork is a tantalizing dish that combines the succulent juiciness of slow-cooked pork with a sweet and spicy glaze. Each bite offers a delightful contrast of tender meat and a sticky, flavorful sauce that dances on the palate, leaving a lingering warmth from the jalapenos.
Ingredients
- Pork: 2 pounds of pork shoulder, trimmed and cut into 2-inch cubes
- Marinade: 1/2 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar, 2 tablespoons of minced garlic, 1 tablespoon of minced fresh ginger
- Jalapenos: 2 fresh jalapenos, finely chopped (seeds removed for less heat)
- Seasoning: 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of salt
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine the brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, garlic, ginger, smoked paprika, black pepper, and salt to create the marinade.
- Add the pork cubes to the marinade, ensuring they are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- Transfer the marinated pork to a large baking dish and sprinkle the chopped jalapenos over the top.
- Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 3 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender.
- Remove the foil and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C). Bake for an additional 30 minutes to caramelize the glaze.
- Let the pork rest for 10 minutes before serving, allowing the juices to redistribute.
Notes
- This dish can be made a day in advance; simply reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 20 minutes before serving.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
- For a spicier kick, leave some jalapeno seeds in the mix or add a pinch of cayenne pepper.
