Ingredients

  • 2 ripe pears, peeled and diced
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, whole wheat flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the diced pears, applesauce, and honey or maple syrup to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. If using, fold in the chopped nuts.
  5. Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool before cutting into bars.
