Description

A delightful sourdough loaf with a crispy crust and airy, chewy interior, perfect for toasting or serving with meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 1 cup water (room temperature)
  • 1 cup sourdough starter (active and bubbly)
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the bread flour and salt in a large bowl.
  2. Add the bubbly sourdough starter and room temperature water. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for approximately 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise for 4 to 8 hours at room temperature, or until doubled in size.
  5. Deflate the risen dough and shape it into a loaf before placing it in a greased loaf pan.
  6. Cover the loaf and let it rise again for 1 to 2 hours until puffed.
  7. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  8. Bake the pan for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool the loaf on a wire rack for at least 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Use a sharp knife to score the top of the loaf before baking for better expansion. Store the loaf wrapped at room temperature for 2-3 days or freeze for longer storage.
