- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup water
- For the Assembly:
- 2 cups mixed fresh berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
- 1 cup whipped cream
Instructions
- In a saucepan, whisk together the milk, sugar, cornstarch, and salt over medium heat until it thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the pudding cool completely.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Add the vegetable oil and water, mixing until smooth.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once the cake is cool, cut it into small cubes.
- In a large trifle dish, layer half of the cake cubes, followed by half of the vanilla pudding, half of the berries, and half of the whipped cream. Repeat the layers.
- Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
