Description

These Red Velvet Crinkle Cookies are a delightful treat, boasting a soft and chewy texture that melts in your mouth. The rich cocoa flavor is perfectly balanced with a hint of vanilla, while the powdered sugar coating adds a sweet crunch that contrasts beautifully with the cookie’s tender crumb.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Dry Ingredients:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
    • 1 teaspoon baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Wet Ingredients:
    • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1 large egg
    • 1 tablespoon red food coloring
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Coating:
    • 1 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the egg, red food coloring, and vanilla extract to the butter mixture, mixing until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Chill the dough in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to firm up.
  7. Using a cookie scoop, portion out the dough and roll each ball in powdered sugar until fully coated.
  8. Place the cookies on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  9. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still soft. They will puff up and then flatten slightly.
  10. Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
