Ingredients

  • Bread: 2 slices of sourdough or Italian bread
  • Cheese: 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Marinara Sauce: 1/4 cup, plus extra for dipping
  • Olive Oil: 1 tablespoon for grilling
  • Italian Seasoning: 1 teaspoon
  • Parmesan Cheese: 2 tablespoons, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet over medium heat for about 2 minutes.
  2. Spread olive oil on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, oiled side down, in the skillet.
  4. Layer half of the mozzarella cheese on the bread, followed by the marinara sauce, and then the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  5. Sprinkle Italian seasoning and grated Parmesan on top.
  6. Top with the second slice of bread, oiled side up.
  7. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown, then carefully flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes until the other side is golden and the cheese is melted.
  8. Remove from heat, let cool for a minute, then slice and serve with extra marinara for dipping.
