Description

Pistachio Baklava Rolls are a delightful fusion of flaky pastry and rich, nutty filling. Each bite offers a satisfying crunch followed by a sweet, honey-infused flavor that lingers on the palate, making them an irresistible treat for any occasion.

  • For the Baklava:
    • 1 package of phyllo dough (16 oz), thawed
    • 2 cups unsalted pistachios, finely chopped
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • For the Syrup:
    • 1 cup granulated sugar
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/2 cup honey
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix the chopped pistachios with ground cinnamon.
  3. Unroll the phyllo dough and cover it with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.
  4. Take one sheet of phyllo, brush it with melted butter, and layer another sheet on top. Repeat this for 5 sheets.
  5. Sprinkle a thin layer of the pistachio mixture over the phyllo.
  6. Roll the phyllo tightly into a log shape and place it on a greased baking sheet.
  7. Repeat the process until all the phyllo and filling are used.
  8. Brush the tops of the rolls with remaining melted butter.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
  10. While baking, prepare the syrup by combining sugar, water, honey, and vanilla in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
  11. Once the baklava is done, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup over the rolls.
  12. Let it cool for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the syrup to soak in.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: Baklava can be prepared a day in advance and stored in an airtight container.
  • Storage: Keep in a cool, dry place for up to a week. Refrigeration can make the pastry soggy.
