- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cinnamon
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- Zest of 1 orange
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tablespoons orange juice (for glaze)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, mix the active dry yeast with warm milk and sugar. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- Mix the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, salt, and egg with the yeast mixture. Gradually stir in the flour until a cohesive dough forms.
- Knead until smooth: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Let it rise in a greased bowl covered with a towel for about one hour.
- Prepare the filling: Punch down the risen dough and roll it into a large rectangle, about 1/4-inch thick.
- Spread the filling: Brush melted butter over the dough and sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
- Roll and slice: Roll the dough tightly and slice into 1-2 inch rolls. Place in a greased baking dish and cover for another 30 minutes of rising.
- Bake to perfection: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare the glaze: Whisk together powdered sugar and orange juice until smooth.
- Glaze and devour: Pour the glaze over warm rolls.

For make-ahead magic, prepare the dough overnight in the fridge. Reheat rolls before serving.
