Indulge in the delightful experience of Orange Creamsicle Cake, where the moist, fluffy layers of orange-infused cake meet a rich, creamy frosting. Each bite bursts with the refreshing taste of citrus, complemented by a velvety smooth texture that evokes the nostalgia of summer treats.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Cake:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 3 large eggs
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • 1 teaspoon orange zest
    • ½ teaspoon salt
  • Frosting:
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
    • 4 cups powdered sugar
    • ¼ cup heavy cream
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 teaspoons orange zest
    • 1 tablespoon orange juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract and orange zest.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, starting and ending with the flour mixture. Mix until just combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between two greased 9-inch round cake pans.
  7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  8. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
  9. For the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy, then gradually add the powdered sugar, heavy cream, vanilla extract, orange zest, and orange juice until smooth and fluffy.
  10. Once the cakes are completely cool, frost the top of one layer, place the second layer on top, and frost the top and sides of the cake.
