  • Author: Laura
  • Total Time: 50 minutes
  • Yield: 24 bites
  • Diet: Gluten-Free (if using gluten-free puff pastry)

Description

These Mini Beef Wellington Bites are a delightful fusion of tender, juicy beef wrapped in a flaky, golden pastry. Each bite bursts with rich flavors from the savory mushrooms and aromatic herbs, creating a mouthwatering experience that is both elegant and comforting.

Ingredients

  • Beef: 1 pound beef tenderloin, trimmed and cut into 1-inch cubes
  • Mushroom Duxelles: 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, finely chopped
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 small onion, finely chopped
    2 cloves garlic, minced
    1 teaspoon fresh thyme, chopped
    Salt and pepper to taste
  • Puff Pastry: 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sautéing until translucent.
  3. Add the chopped mushrooms and thyme, cooking until the mixture is dry and caramelized, about 10 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
  4. In a separate pan, sear the beef cubes over high heat for 2-3 minutes until browned on all sides. Remove from heat and let cool.
  5. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into 3-inch squares.
  6. Place a spoonful of mushroom duxelles and a piece of beef in the center of each pastry square.
  7. Fold the pastry over the filling and seal the edges with a fork. Brush the tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up. Serve warm.

Notes

  • Make-ahead: Prepare the mushroom duxelles and beef ahead of time, then assemble and bake just before serving.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Substitutions: Use chicken or pork instead of beef for a different flavor profile.
