Description

Indulge in the delightful contrast of flavors with this Hot Sausage Feta Honey Pizza. The crispy, golden crust cradles a savory blend of spicy sausage and creamy feta, while a drizzle of honey adds a touch of sweetness that perfectly balances the heat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dough:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
    • 1 tsp sugar
    • 3/4 cup warm water (110°F)
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • For the Toppings:
    • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1/2 cup crumbled feta cheese
    • 1/2 lb hot Italian sausage, casings removed
    • 1/4 cup honey
    • 1 tbsp olive oil (for drizzling)
    • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour and salt. Add the yeast mixture and olive oil, then knead until smooth (about 5-7 minutes).
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat.
  5. In a skillet, cook the hot sausage over medium heat until browned and cooked through (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.
  7. Transfer the rolled dough to a parchment-lined pizza peel or baking sheet.
  8. Spread the mozzarella cheese evenly over the dough, followed by the cooked sausage and crumbled feta.
  9. Carefully slide the pizza onto the preheated stone or baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown.
  10. Remove from the oven and drizzle with honey and olive oil. Sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired. Slice and serve hot.
