Ingredients
Scale
- For the Chicken:
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper to taste
- For the Hot Honey Sauce:
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1–2 tbsp hot sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- For Assembly:
- 8 slider buns
- 1 cup coleslaw (optional)
- Pickles (optional)
Instructions
- In a bowl, marinate the chicken thighs in buttermilk for at least 1 hour or overnight in the refrigerator.
- Preheat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
- In a separate bowl, mix flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, salt, and pepper.
- Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture, ensuring an even coating.
- Fry the chicken in batches for 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F or 74°C).
- While the chicken is frying, combine honey, hot sauce, and apple cider vinegar in a small saucepan over low heat until warmed and well mixed.
- Once the chicken is cooked, toss it in the hot honey sauce until fully coated.
- Assemble the sliders by placing the chicken on the slider buns, adding coleslaw and pickles if desired.
Notes
- Make-ahead: The chicken can be marinated overnight for enhanced flavor.
- Storage: Store leftover chicken in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Substitutions: Use chicken breasts instead of thighs for a leaner option, or substitute the hot sauce with sriracha for a different flavor profile.
