- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously grease your 9×13 inch baking pan.
- Cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
- Mix together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon in another bowl.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared pan and smooth it out.
- Combine the brown sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Sprinkle half of the brown sugar mixture over the batter.
- Add the remaining batter on top, then sprinkle with the rest of the brown sugar mixture and nuts (if using).
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a gluten-free option, substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free blend. This coffee cake tastes even better when made a day in advance.
