Ingredients

- 2 slices of artisan bread
- 2 slices of aged cheddar cheese
- 2 slices of Gruyère cheese
- 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard
- Fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Spread Dijon mustard on one side of each slice of bread.
- Layer the cheddar and Gruyère cheese between the unbuttered sides of the bread.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Place the sandwich in the skillet, buttered side down.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, then flip and add the remaining butter.
- Cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and the bread is golden brown.
- Remove from skillet, slice, and garnish with fresh herbs if desired.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add sliced jalapeños inside the sandwich.
- Experiment with different cheese combinations for unique flavors.
- Serve with a side of tomato soup for a classic pairing.
