Description

Delicious and moist pumpkin scones with a cinnamon swirl, perfect for fall.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon (for swirl)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Add the cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. In another bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, egg, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  6. In a small bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon for the swirl.
  7. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a rectangle.
  8. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the dough and roll it up tightly.
  9. Cut the rolled dough into scones and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  11. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • For a sweeter scone, add a glaze on top after baking.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
  • These scones can be frozen before baking for up to 2 months.
