Description

A delicious pastry filled with cream cheese and spiced apples, topped with a cinnamon glaze.


Ingredients

  • 1 package of puff pastry (thawed)
  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups apples (peeled and diced)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 12 tbsp milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut into squares.
  3. In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. In another bowl, combine the diced apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar.
  5. Place a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture in the center of each pastry square.
  6. Add a spoonful of the apple mixture on top of the cream cheese.
  7. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling and seal.
  8. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. For the glaze, mix powdered sugar with milk until smooth and drizzle over the danishes once cooled.

Notes

  • Make sure the puff pastry is fully thawed before using.
  • Feel free to add nuts or raisins to the apple filling for extra texture.
