Description

The Christmas Tree Cake Trifle is a festive dessert that combines layers of moist cake, velvety cream, and vibrant fruit. Each spoonful offers a delightful contrast of textures, from the soft cake to the creamy filling, all enhanced by the sweet and tangy notes of seasonal berries.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:
    • 1 box of vanilla cake mix (15.25 oz)
    • 3 large eggs
    • 1 cup water
    • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • For the Cream:
    • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
    • 1 cup powdered sugar
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Fruit Layer:
    • 2 cups mixed berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries)
  • For Decoration:
    • Green food coloring
    • Edible glitter
    • Mini candy canes

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, eggs, water, and vegetable oil. Mix until smooth.
  3. Pour the batter into a greased 9×13 inch baking pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  4. Allow the cake to cool completely before cutting it into small cubes.
  5. In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form.
  6. In a trifle dish, layer the cake cubes, followed by a layer of whipped cream, and then a layer of mixed berries. Repeat the layers until the dish is full.
  7. For decoration, mix a few drops of green food coloring into the remaining whipped cream and pipe it on top of the trifle. Sprinkle with edible glitter and garnish with mini candy canes.
  8. Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving.
