- 1 cup hazelnuts, toasted
- 8 oz dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- Chocolate shavings for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9-inch springform pan.
- In a food processor, blend the toasted hazelnuts until finely ground.
- In a saucepan, melt the dark chocolate and butter over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Remove from heat and stir in the sugar, followed by the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Add the vanilla extract and cocoa powder, mixing until fully incorporated.
- Fold in the ground hazelnuts.
- Pour the batter into the prepared springform pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Let the torte cool completely before removing from the pan.
- Whip the heavy cream until soft peaks form and spread over the cooled torte.
- Garnish with chocolate shavings before serving.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, use high-quality dark chocolate with at least 70% cocoa content.
- Make sure to let the torte cool completely before adding the whipped cream.
- This dessert can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
