The Cheesy Cob Loaf is a warm, inviting dish that boasts a crispy, golden crust encasing a soft, fluffy interior. Each bite reveals a gooey, melted cheese filling that tantalizes the taste buds with its rich, savory flavor, complemented by hints of garlic and herbs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Bread: 1 large round cob loaf
  • Cheese Filling:
    • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
    • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
    • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
    • 1/4 cup sour cream
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
    • 1 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Carefully hollow out the cob loaf, leaving about 1 inch of bread around the edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the mozzarella, cream cheese, Parmesan, sour cream, garlic, parsley, onion powder, and black pepper until well blended.
  4. Fill the hollowed cob loaf with the cheese mixture, packing it in tightly.
  5. Place the filled loaf on a baking sheet and cover it with aluminum foil.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the top is golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • This dish can be made ahead of time; prepare the cheese filling and hollow out the loaf, then assemble and bake just before serving.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • For a lighter version, substitute low-fat cream cheese and sour cream.
