Description

A delightful dessert featuring caramelized figs and crunchy walnuts in a buttery tart shell.


Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 6 fresh figs, halved
  • 1/2 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Stir in cold water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough and fit it into a tart pan. Prick the bottom with a fork.
  5. Bake the crust for 15 minutes or until lightly golden.
  6. In a saucepan, combine figs, walnuts, brown sugar, honey, vanilla, and cinnamon. Cook over medium heat until figs are soft and caramelized.
  7. Pour the fig mixture into the baked tart shell and spread evenly.
  8. Bake for an additional 10-15 minutes until the filling is bubbly.
  9. Let cool before serving. Enjoy!

  • Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for added indulgence.
  • Can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Substitute dried figs if fresh are not available.
