Ingredients
Scale
- For the Cheesecake Layer:
- 16 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- For the Apple Layer:
- 3 medium apples, peeled and diced
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- For the Caramel Sauce:
- 1 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- For the Crust:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar. Press the mixture into the bottom of a 9×9 inch baking dish to form the crust. Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown, then let cool.
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form, then gently fold it into the cream cheese mixture until fully combined.
- In a skillet over medium heat, combine diced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the apples are tender but still hold their shape.
- To assemble the trifle, layer half of the graham cracker crust, followed by half of the cheesecake mixture, half of the cooked apples, and a drizzle of caramel sauce. Repeat the layers.
- Chill the trifle in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
Notes
- This trifle can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
- For a lighter version, use low-fat cream cheese and whipped topping.
