- 1 whole chicken (about 4–5 lbs)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh herbs for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, garlic, ginger, salt, and pepper to create the glaze.
- Place the chicken in a roasting pan and brush the glaze all over the chicken, making sure to get under the skin where possible.
- Roast the chicken in the preheated oven for about 1 hour and 15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C).
- Baste the chicken with the glaze every 20 minutes for extra flavor and caramelization.
- Once cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before carving.
- Garnish with fresh herbs if desired and serve.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add red pepper flakes to the glaze.
- Leftover chicken can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- This dish pairs well with roasted vegetables or rice.
