BBQ Pulled Pork is a mouthwatering dish that combines tender, slow-cooked pork with a rich, smoky flavor and a hint of sweetness. The succulent texture melts in your mouth, while the tangy barbecue sauce adds a delightful kick that tantalizes your taste buds.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pork Shoulder: 4 pounds, trimmed and cut into large chunks
  • BBQ Rub:
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon paprika
    • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
    • 1 tablespoon onion powder
    • 1 tablespoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon black pepper
    • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • BBQ Sauce: 2 cups, store-bought or homemade
  • Apple Cider Vinegar: 1/2 cup
  • Water: 1 cup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix all the BBQ rub ingredients together until well combined.
  3. Rub the spice mixture all over the pork shoulder, ensuring it is evenly coated.
  4. Place the pork in a large roasting pan and pour the apple cider vinegar and water around it.
  5. Cover the pan tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 4-5 hours, or until the pork is fork-tender.
  6. Remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for 30 minutes before shredding it with two forks.
  7. Mix the shredded pork with the BBQ sauce until well coated.
  8. Serve warm, and enjoy!

Notes

  • This dish can be made a day in advance; simply reheat the pulled pork in a saucepan over low heat.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • For a healthier option, substitute the pork shoulder with a leaner cut like pork loin.
