- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 cups peeled and diced apples
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 cup chopped nuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add melted butter to the dry ingredients and mix until crumbly.
- Press half of the mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, toss the diced apples with lemon juice and spread them over the crust.
- Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture over the apples and add nuts if desired.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
- Allow to cool before cutting into bars and serving.
Notes
- For a sweeter filling, add more sugar to the apples.
- These bars can be stored in an airtight container for up to a week.
- Feel free to substitute other fruits for the apples, such as pears or berries.
