Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and diced
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup cold water
- 2 cups apples, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in cold water, a tablespoon at a time, until mixture forms a ball. Wrap in plastic and refrigerate for 4 hours or overnight.
- In another bowl, combine apples, cinnamon, brown sugar, and lemon juice.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut into squares.
- Place a spoonful of the apple mixture in the center of each square.
- Fold the corners of the dough over the filling and seal.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Notes
- For a richer flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the apple filling.
- Serve warm with a drizzle of icing for extra sweetness.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
